{Disclaimer: If you follow me on Instagram, this post may be sort of boring/redundant... Sorry! Read anyway;) If you DON'T follow me on Instagram... What the heck?! Hop to it! I know it's been 'the thing' for awhile now, but I've only recently become an avid Instagrammer, so forgive my delight. FIND ME! (@katherinelmk) I digress....}
So, I promised y'all that I'd take the bullet and try out the Power Chicken Hummus Bowl from Panera... You know, experimental. All for the sake of science. {You're welcome} Well, I did just that for lunch on Friday! {You're welcome, again} My review? I LOVED the taste. If Panera packaged and sold that fabulous jalapeno cilantro hummus, I'd turn into a chickpea. My only complaint? Don't be so stingy on the food, Panera! You know those seemingly huge bowls they serve their salads in when you eat in the restaurant?! Yeah, that's what the bowl is also served in. However, I got my bowl to go since I had to head back to work, and it just didn't seem like nearly as much food all wrapped-up in that to-go container? Maybe my inner fat kid was just really, really hungry that day and nothing would've quite satisfied me? Who knows... I'd definitely eat this again, but I think my fav is still the salad!
So, I had my salad and rested in the fact that I could probably stand a smaller lunch since I planned to pig out at AJ's Oyster House for Beth's birthday dinner that night! On my lunch break, I had to wrap Beth's present - I ADORE gift giving! Become my friend. Keep me around until your birthday. I'll do you right! Or, if I don't do you so right, at least your package will be prettily wrapped :) ...& likely monogrammed?
After work, it was off to CrossFit... Beth & I partnered up for the WOD:
EMOM for 17 minutes
1 snatch
2 overhead squats
**My last 7 rounds were done at 75 lbs**
{For you non-CrossFitters who are entirely annoyed by us crazies that use CF jargon, I totally get it.. WOD=work out of the day & EMOM=every minute on the minute... If you wan't to know more about the lifts, YouTube them!}
After the WOD, we headed to my house to freshen up and then met some of our CFit friendies for birthday dinner in Fort Smith. SUCH a fun time! The restaurant is a new one in our area and it was absolutely packed. We didn't mind waiting for a table, because that meant we got to sip and chat! The food is FAB! I had the special which was scallopps - Ummm, YUM! My group of CrossFit friends are priceless to me - more like family. I love them! Here are the CFVB girls that attended - love each of you dearly!
On Saturday morning, I {naturally} made my trip to the Farmers Market! I got there shortly after 7, so I got quite the haul. My mom went to the market around 9 and they were already out of peaches! You know what they say... The early bird gets the worm! {or the peaches...} My haul included peaches, blackberries, Arkansas tomatoes, okra, grass-fed ground beef, and flowers. LOVE!
After I put away my stash, I headed up to Northwest Arkansas {NWA} for the weekend! In college, I did quite a lot of babysitting on nights and weekends to earn some extra money. Double bonus was that I LOVE and have always loved kids, so I was always more thrilled about getting to spend time playing dress up, watching cartoons, swinging, reading books, and playing 'house' than I was about the money. One of the families I watched has three sweet, sweet boys and they just recently moved to Fayetteville. Their mom became a precious friend and she'd asked me about coming up for a weekend while her husband was out of town to give her a hand with the boys while she finished some nesting & unpacking and just so she could have some girl company! I, of course, jumped at the chance. I met them at the Fayetteville Farmer's Market first thing. My, oh my... What a place! They have SO MUCH to do for kids. We had a blast just walking around, looking, and playing! That evening we headed to the country club for some swimming time and dinner {wish I'd thought to take a picture, but we had some WONDERFUL hummus, fish tacos, and fresh fruit}. Once we got home and got the boys all bathed and in PJ's, we made homemade ice cream which we had with some famous Little Rock apple pie - YUM! Such a treat. Before we knew it, it was bedtime for the boys, but mama and I stayed up until after midnight, just chatting! Sunday morning we made quiche for breakfast, went to church, and then had to swing by Starbucks for some post-church coffee. Since we were already in Rogers, we decided to take a little trip to Fresh Market - I snagged some organic pear ginger green tea, organic soba noodles, salsa verde, kalamata olives, and my VERY favorite Old Bay shrimp from their little seafood bar {more on that later}. I had a GREAT weekend with them and truly enjoyed every second! It's so fun to see those kiddos grow up.
When I left their house, I decided to run back to Rogers to peruse TJ Maxx {theirs is the BEST} and to get some makeup at Mac.... It's my duty since I was mere miles away, right?! I thought so...
I'd been on a never-ending search for the perfect rug for my kitchen, without spending a fortune. I scored the perfect one at TJ for less than $50 {picture to come later}. And new makeup, of course, is great for the soul! I stopped by Mac just to grab some blush, lipstick, and eyeshadow {theirs are my FAV!}, but decided to try out their mineral makeup. I've been tried and true to Bare Minerals, but it just wasn't doing the trick anymore. I am SO pleased with my Mac minerals thusfar - plus, their brushes are divine and last FOREVER.
I finished up in Rogers mid-afternoon and took a quick trip through Fayetteville to browse a sweet little vintage market on College. By the time I was homeward bound, it was after 6 and I still needed to swing by the grocery store once I got home. I KNEW I wouldn't want to cook by the time I made it home, so I stopped by Jason's Deli to get a salad to-go. Let me just tell you... Poor Jason loses money on me with his to-go salads. I LOADED it up {I might've also gotten a small container of hummus and a not-so-small container of that divine chocolate moose they have on the salad bar... Neither of which are pictured here because maybe I didn't get them? Okay, I did... Oops!}
Yesterday was BETH'S BIRTHDAY {if I haven't already told y'all....} So, a birthday WOD was in order:
15 RFT (rounds for time):
2 clean and jerks (I did 85 lbs)
6 ttb {toes-to-bar.... think pull-up position but, instead of pulling yourself up, you kick your legs up to where your toes touch the bar... yes, it's as hard as you're imagining}
AP (after party - it's a small workout after your WOD)
26 GHD sit ups
26 GHD hip extensions {you're just going to need to Google/YouTube that one!}
I took the liberty of forcing Beth to snap a few pre and post-birthday WOD pictures. I'm sure you can guess which are which!
After CF, I headed home and concocted a little recipe with my Fresh Market treasures to satisfy my craving for something spicy and Asian. Enter, organic soba noodles with Old Bay shrimp, fresh lime juice, and sriracha.... DELICIOUS! Will definitely be on repeat this week.
I'd missed my fur babies BIG this weekend, so we wound down the evening with a little playing. This picture CRACKS me up... Henley is playing as usual and Harlow is just chillin' under the doggie bed! Gosh, I love them! While they played, mama enjoyed a cup of my new organic pear and ginger green tea with some local honey.This morning started with one of my favorite breakfasts - cinnamon oats with cinnamon raisin PB, dark chocolate chips, and banana with a cup of Joe! Yummy to my tummy!
What do y'all have planned for the week? I'm looking forward to a week full of strength workouts, not-so-many plans, a free weekend coming up, and the thought that I'll be on the beach in 3 weeks without a care in the world. Have a fabulous week, y'all! xoxo
