Reluctancy...  We all experience it, right?  Well, after guest blogging for a dear friend's popular fashion blog a few years ago (shout out to Meg & the gals over at Hazel's Haven in Fort Smith), I've tossed around the idea of starting my own.  But, wait...  Work!  I'm SO busy!  CrossFit...  Definitely a priority over blogging, right?!  Then there's Junior League, the occasional craft spurt, raising two fur children, and trying to maintain a somewhat normal person life - you know, the usual.... family time, girl's night out, maybe a road trip or two, pretending I have time to finish reading a book here and there, making time to cook and enjoy other hobbies...  Oh, and EAT...  Blogging would mean I would never have time for ANY of those things, right?!  WRONG.  I'm out of excuses.  Here I am, starting my own little happy place on the web :)  I hope you enjoy reading and that you may giggle a litte, be motivated a lot, and become inspired often.  I can't wait to share life with you!

In April of 2013, I started reading a new one-year devotional.  It's called "The One Year Book of Inspiration for Girlfriends...  Juggling Not-So-Perfect, Often-Crazy, but Gloriously Real Lives."  I'd be lying if I said it wasn't the image of a fabulous purse, a coffee cup, and a tube of lipstick on the cover that didn't catch my eye...  I thought "Now THIS is a woman I can relate to!"  I was SO right!  Her devotions  hit home regularly.  You know, those people who write directly to you!  Yep, that's her.  So, when trying to develop a name for this little blog, it just seemed natural to ramble about gloriously real life.  I tried to think of something catchy since most of the blogs I adore have these catchy little names.  I quickly realized my life has no theme...  I work for a trucking company.  I CrossFit.  I have two children covered in fur.  I love to craft and adore anything vintage and amazing.  On weekends you can find me in the most random of places - whether at our local Farmers Market (every Saturday, baby!) or on a lake weekend with friends.  Random, right?!  To me, the definition of gloriously real.

Speaking of lake weekends with friends....  That's JUST what I had this past weekend!  Good for the soul, I tell ya!  Nothing like spending some time on gorgeous Lake Ouachita with some of your best gal pals just hanging out, cooking, swimming, floating, and catching up.  MUCH needed! But, first and foremost, to celebrate the 4th, we HAD to WOD...  DUH!

Here I am with my FABULOUS partners and wonderful friends - Astrid & Beth!  Such encouraging women.

So, we CrossFitted on the morning of the 4th and then a small group of us went to lunch.  So much fun!  It was nice to have a liesurely morning/early afternoon on my day off.  The rest of the day was spent shopping the fabulous Dick's sale (God LOVE Nike!) and with my family.  We ate a FABULOUS meal of steak and veggie kabobs, Asian coleslaw, "fried" brown rice, and angel food cake with fresh berries for dessert.  Then, in typical Kidwell sister fashion, we just HAD to play with fireworks in the front yard.  I hope that we continue this fun tradition, no matter our age.

Friday, back to work I went....  All the while anticipating our lake trip.  What a spectacular time! I have SUCH pretty and sweet friends - We are so blessed with such a genuine friendship.  This group of girls KNOWS how to throw down for girls night, I tell ya!  We make fondue, have wine, all bring our puppies for a "play date" while the mommies chat.  We enjoyed a weekend on the water, cooking for the group, and watched a gorgeous sunset from the boat Saturday night!  Since we are all big girls now, we were all awake, had breakfast, packed up, cleaned the lake house, loaded the boats, AND were on the road a little after 11:00 Sunday morning.  Nothing beats getting home early to do laundry, grocery shop, relax, and prepare for the week. {Girls, can you BELIEVE we are acting so OLD?! Ha!}

THAT was my weekend!  Relaxing and VERY much needed.  Hope y'all have a fabulous remainder of the week!  Thanks for stopping by :)

  2. Katie.... enjoy reading your blog. Love the furry kids. Some may think I'm a bit biased. But, biased or not, your blog is fun, and I really like your conversations about food. You're a great young lady. I know that for a fact.
