It's no secret that I'm kind-of-obsessed with CrossFit. And, if you're just now finding this out, you must be living under a rock. If there's one thing on my "I need this NOW" list, it's THESE beauties. I bought my first pair of Reebok Nano's before I even started CrossFit. Let me just tell you how GLAD I am that I did this! My sweet pink Nano's are lovely, BUT... Now I'm ready for a new color (DUH!)... So very uncharacteristically, I have chosen THESE gorgeous things! Fear not... I've not ordered them yet. Don't think I've not had them in my shopping cart about a gazillion times already. I just can't pull the trigger! I try to reason with myself that I don't NEED a second pair. But, let's be real, here... I CrossFit an average of five days a week. I think that constitutes a need! Let's just see how long I can go without actually purchasing. {Bets, anyone?!} Until then, I'll continue to lust. {Go HERE to see these babies in action and TELL ME I don't need these!}
While on the topic of shoes {one of my favorites} let's provide another option for you non-CrossFitters out there! Now THESE, I can speak for! I snatched these up at the J. Crew Factory sale while on vacation. Try not to be TOO envious that I scored these pretties at 40% off! I wore them to church Sunday with black skinnies and a gold knit sweater and I just KNOW they'll be a constant in my fall wardrobe. I have a pair of black Tory Burch flats that I absolutely adore, but these will be fun when I want to add a dressy little flair to my outfits. I also love the nude color! {Go HERE for J. Crew bow flats.}
Onto products.. These are a few of my favorites! I don't use much hair product.. In fact, I have only been using Aveda Rosemary Mint Shampoo and Color Protect conditioner plus Moroccan Oil Light, all sold at my salon. NO complaints here! These products have been great for my hair! If you've not been introduced to Moroccan Oil, please drop what you're doing and run out and buy some. Immediately. Seriously. Life. Changing.
I used Bare Minerals makeup for about three years. The last time I ran out, I considered trying something different because my skin had just not been reacting well to Bare Minerals lately. I was in Northwest Arkansas and decided to swing by MAC, and they completely sold me on their loose mineral makeup! The girl who helped me actually used to be a Bare Minerals consultant at Sephora. I shared my frustration with her and she offered that it might have been the Bare Minerals brushes agitating my skin, not the actual makeup. So, I got my makeup and actually purchased a few new MAC brushes as well. I could not be more pleased! The makeup has done great with my skin and MAC brushes are, of course, just the best, most long-lasting makeup brushes ever. If you girls, like me, are strictly into mineral makeup and are looking to try something new... Give this a shot! You won't be disappointed! Not to mention, the price was just a dollar or two more than BM and I got like twice as much product! I call that a win-win. {Go HERE for MAC Mineralize Foundation}
This next one is brand new to my regimen. My sweet friend Michele from YOUthful Southern Life {check her out HERE} had been just raving about it over and over these past few months. I have sensitive skin, so I, admittedly, was skeptical... I was at Target the other day grabbing a few things for the pups, and I just so happened to notice that this Olay Fresh Effects 'Shine, Shine Go Away' was on SALE! I couldn't help but to snatch up a bottle. Heck, at less than $5, it'd be alright if it was a total flop. {Don't worry, I sent Michele a text immediately to notify her of the sale and encourage her to stock-up on said miracle in a bottle} I don't have oily skin, but it's not terribly dry either - combination, if you will. Just VERY sensitive! Not to mention, if I wear liquid foundation, I look like a total freak. So, I had my doubts. I tried this stuff out in the shower this morning and I AM IN LOVE! It didn't dry my skin out one bit and I still don't notice any shine on my face. An added bonus, which Michele pointed out, is that it smells pleasant. I don't know about you, but I don't want to be rubbing anything that smells like a foot anywhere near my face. This stuff is, undoubtedly, a miracle in a bottle! Go get yourself some at Target this week while it's still on sale for less than $5!
I mentioned earlier that I don't use a lot of products on my hair. I've been using Aveda shampoo and conditioner for the past month and have been really pleased with it. However, the combination of shampoo and conditioner, alone, was over $40 for fairly small bottles. I don't love it THAT much! So, I set out to find something new! I stopped by Ulta, and several of the girls recommended Joico Color Endure. I sort of have a pre-req that all of my hair stuff smell "yummy" {much like my face, I don't want my hair to smell like a foot either}, so I was pleasantly surprised that this stuff smelled yummy! What's even better is that Ulta is running a 'buy 2, get 1 free' special right now, so I even got this bottle of leave-in heat protectant, to boot! It got raving compliments from the Ulta girls, so at the price of... Well, FREE... I thought it might be worth a shot! I also had one of those infamous $3.50 off Ulta coupons, making all three of my products under $33, after tax and all! Not too shabby. I'm going to finish off my Aveda products before trying these out, but will be sure to let you girls know my full review! Have any of you tried Joico products before?! This is my first time.
Lastly, a few scenes as of late....
While I have one fur child who avoids the camera {Harlow Jane, AKA: Diva Dog}, THIS sweet patootie and handsome little Henley boy just LOVES the camera. The pups went for their last hair cut of the summer, and he just HAD to show off his new 'do :) I got sweet boy a new collar to match his new haircut and he is equally as proud of that! Love this precious little face.
Speaking of the pups, they got a sweet little surprise in the mail yesterday! Our Aunt Ashley and fur cousins {Ellie & Zooey} from Houston sent us a promo code for a FREE BarkBox. We, of course, had to take them up on it, and our BarkBox arrived yesterday afternoon! The pups LOVE it and I was super pleased - so much so that I'm considering buying them a subscription for Christmas :)
I was finally getting back into the swing of my eating regimen post-vaca when I got sick. Sigh... When ill, nothing sounds better than unhealthy takeout and a chickflick. Enter, fried rice. We have this little local dive called Fried Rice {original, right?!} or, as I like to call it.... Fry Ry. They make, you guessed it, fried rice. It is HEAVENLY, let me just tell you! I get the spicy chicken fried rice and a whole to-go container stuffed FULL is like $6.50, tax and all. Plus it's crazy delicious, y'all!
This weekend I made some homemade trail mix, and I couldn't be more pleased! I used a bag of Trader Joe's mixed nuts and a bag of their banana chips {courtesy of my Foodie Pen Pal a few months ago}, and mixed it with raisins, roasted sunflower seeds I got from the farmers market, and dark chocolate chips. I made a big bag and then divided it up into smaller sandwich bags for snacks. I think it'll make a perfect pre-WOD afternoon snack!
I'd been craving fried eggs {I've been on a serious egg kick lately}, so I made myself a few of them for breakfast this morning! Paired with a few strips of bacon, some kalamata olives, 1/2 grapefruit, and coffee, it made the perfect breakfast. Yum to my tum!
I hope y'all have a fabulous remainder of the week! See you soon! :)
xoxo
Katie
SO glad you love the face wash. It's a miracle for oily skined women (such as myself) but it can work wonders on people with combination or even dry skin!Love love LOVE you!
ReplyDeleteI was so excited to get our Bark Box after you sent me that text! We got ours the next day, and since we have the "medium size" package, instead of the whale we got a dolphin that will float in the pool. Elly hates swimming, but Zooey loves it. Can't wait to let her play with it whenever we visit my parents. Fun read!
