There's quite a bit happening over here at Gloriously Real Life! Arkansas is still throwing summer heat our way, and I am begging for fall. My wardrobe, my pumpkin spice coffee creamer, and my fall decor are all just dying to make their debuts for the year. I've thrown around the idea of decorating for fall this week, but I just can't fathom having pumpkins, leaves, and mums surrounding me while I'm still getting knocked down by 100+ degree temps when I walk out the door.
I've been a busy gal lately and have some super duper exciting things in store! But, before we get to all of that, a few little tidbits from the week.
My bad-day-Monday was made better when I came home on Tuesday to working INTERNET! Y'all, I am in heaven. I have this really, super duper sweet neighbor who insisted I take his Internet password after we'd been neighbors for six months and he realized I didn't have Internet. I used it just a few times on my MacBook, but I had to strategically place myself to receive a signal. I swear, if I didn't know me and I was just a fly on the wall at my condo watching all of this go down... I would've thought that blonde, Internet-less lady was crazy! Three days into being an AT&T Internet customer, I'm still reminding myself that I have wi-fi access in every room of the house. This means, yes, that I may or may not have watched a few episodes of Nashville on Hulu from my iPad while laying in bed the past few nights... No shame in my game. I'm loving being able to turn on the tube while I prep dinner or watch the pups play in the evenings. It's like Christmas at the Kidwell bachelorette pad!
Last week, on one of the blogs I've started reading recently, I read about an awesome offer from Shutterfly for a free, customized, 8x8, 20-page photo book and I HAD to jump on board! Designing was an absolute blast, and I sort of can't believe I haven't done this before. Of course my cover had to be Kate Spade-inspired with a title based off of Dave Matthews lyrics. For an extra $5, I opted for the matte book cover instead of gloss and my total for the whole thing {shipping & taxes} was just fourteen bucks! I got an email this week that my beauty has been shipped, and I absolutely can't wait until it arrives at my house. I think I've already found the perfect spot to display it, and I'm definitely going to make this an annual tradition!
Several months ago, I scored three precious 5x7 picture frames from Hobby Lobby - all a similar design, but each a different color. I am not super huge on displaying just a ton of pictures all throughout my house - I've got several really special pictures in picture frames, but I'm picky when it comes to that! If I like it but don't love it, it gets hung on my fridge with a fun magnet. However, as much as I loved these frames, I just knew I'd hang them in a fun little collage when I took just the right pictures to go in them. I finally picked the winners, and had them sent to Walgreen's to be printed! What do y'all think?! I think I'm going to distress the frames a little bit before putting the pictures in, just to give them a sort of vintage look.
Some of my eats lately {and perhaps a sweet tea from Chick-fil-A - I'm powerless!}
This week has been spent, in large part, preparing for my braces on Monday. I am SO excited, yet sort of nervous at the same time! I made myself this little list of survival essentials, and posted it on Instagram. A sweet follower, friend, and my dental hygienist {who happens to also have braces for the second time around} commented that I MUST have some interdental brushes in my purse at all times, so I made sure to grab some while at Target last night! {Thanks, Danielle!} I've still got a few other items in mind, along with my selfless effort to drink the very last bottle of red wine at my house before Monday... Since my braces are tooth-colored {including brackets & wire}, red wine is going to be on the no-no list for the next several months. But I'm a resourceful gal, so you bet your bottom dollar that I've stocked up on Chardonnay! ;)
Speaking of items on the no-no list...
I've had braces once before, but was a little rusty on the etiquette of what I can and cannot have for the next several months. I started doing research and got a little stressed. So, I did what any smart girl would do in the face of fear.... I planned a PARTY! This cute little invitation went out yesterday to a small group of my closest gal pals. On Sunday, we PARTY! Stay tuned for plenty more next week :)
I'm not sure what's gotten into me lately, but I've felt super crafty. Maybe it's the party planning? Nonetheless, I've been itching with creativity. I've got two projects I'm going to undertake this evening {cross your fingers I get them completed}, in addition to a few tiny little side-projects that I'll ideally have completed before the party Sunday. Here's just a tiny little hint, but be sure to follow me on Instagram for more! {@katherinelmk}
I feel like my mind is a buzzing, never-ending to-do list! No complaints here - being busy is a blessing because it means I have purpose and excitement!
Are you doing anything exciting this weekend?! On Saturday I've got a team WOD in the morning, a planned little day trip to NWA by myself in the afternoon, and a double-birthday celebration for friends that evening. Sunday evening is the party, and a majority of my weekend will be spent prepping for it! Can't wait to share everything with you next week!
Be blessed! xoxo
I cannot wait to see this photo book!!!!
