Fall Loves & Lusts

I woke up this morning craving a Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte {if you haven't tried one, shame on you}.  That's when I knew that fall had officially hit my soul!  I don't know about where you live, but here in Razorback country, it's HOT!  I catch a glimpse of fall weather first thing in the mornings when I take Henley & Harlow outside to potty.  By the time I'm showered, ready, and out the door to work...  It's already warmed up!  Needless to say, I'm just itching for more signs of fall!  Football is finally here, and I couldn't be more thrilled.  To me, fall means hiking, bonfires, pumpkin carving, yummy-smelling candles, soup, pumpkin pie, Thanksgiving, beautiful Arkansas scenery... More than anything, I absolutely adore fall fashions!  So, I thought I'd put together a little blurb about some of the things I'm most looking forward to wearing this fall.

First and foremost, I am DYING over this J. Crew herringbone puffer vest.  It's the Factory version of the ever-so-popular J. Crew quilted excursion vest from last year.  This beauty hangs proudly in my closet and every time I glance her way, I die inside just a little.  Oh, how I long for cool fall days so I can put together about a gazillion outfits, all centered around her.  I've gotten a little inspiration from my good friend Pinterest.  While I'm mostly thrilled at the thought of dressing her up, I'm also loving the idea of wearing this gorgeous little frock to CrossFit, over a long-sleeved work out top and a pair of Lululemon crops...  I die.

Speaking of J. Crew, if you haven't yet noticed...  Pretty much whatever they're sellin', I'm buyin'!  That also, apparently, goes for trends that I've formerly scoffed at.  Take the fall trend of camo, for instance.  Maybe it's just growing up in areas of the country where boys hunt in Mossy Oak camo and girls wear camo t-shirts from Walmart, accompanied by off-brand jeans which are tucked into the tops of their round-toed cowgirl boots.  {Don't act like you don't know what I'm talking about!}  Or, maybe, it's the Duck Dynasty craze sweeping the country.  Don't get me wrong, I love those people and their wholesome show just as much as the next gal..  However, I wholeheartedly stand firm on the idea that camouflage is just a print that looks good on no one.  Less you are killing your dinner, then we can talk.  {*DISCLAIMER* The only time in my life in which I've found camo acceptable for myself is when it has been digitized and slapped on a pair of Reebok Nano's.. Now we're talkin'..}

Unless you do your grocery shopping with a rifle in the woods and you accessorize with a lot of florescent orange, I've firmly maintained that camo is just not a flattering print for you.

That is, until I found J. Crew's camo wool scarf from their fall collection.  I think it's the trim of baby pink that's sold me.  Or, perhaps, it's the fact that the print is so subtle that I, admittedly, did not initially notice that it was supposed to be camo.  But, let's just be real...  It's probably because it's a scarf made by J. Crew and I may or may not have a slight J. Crew addiction for which I do not plan to seek help.

All I'm sayin' is that, if this gorgeous thing wants to come live in my closet, I won't be sorry.  I'd pair her with sweaters..  Mix prints.  She'd look lovely over a chambray.  I'd die at the cuteness of her paired with some olive toothpick skinnies, brown booties, a casual v-neck, and a denim jacket.  I digress.

I give you, THE scarf.  Everyone please shower her with applause.

Did someone say chambray?!  How about this version from J. Crew Factory?  It's on sale right now for less than $50, and looks gorgeous.  I have a very similar Old Navy version {for which I paid a mere $12 after I used leftover rewards from my burgundy skinnies}, but the quality of this J. Crew option would totally be worth the splurge.

Heck, while we're on denim, let me just go ahead and do you the biggest favor of your lifetime.  Take out your credit cards, ladies.

A few months ago I started reading this hilarious and totally relateable blog called Pinterest Told Me To.  It's written by a lady who decided she'd stop lusting over all of her Pinned outfits, and actually start recreating the looks using pieces in her closet.  Her little blog morphed to be so much more, as she now practically does the shopping for you.  That's where I found my absolute closet staple of which I'm about to share with you.  Just pat yourself on the back right now.  This jacket was deemed a "MUST HAVE ITEM" and I will have to second that award.

Let me just say that I have never been a huge fan of denim jackets.  They remind me of middle school.  After reading for weeks and weeks about how amazing this jacket was and how every girl NEEDED one in her closet, I bit the bullet.  I went right on over to Nordstrom's site and ordered this gem.  Free shipping, and all.

I now can't recall what my life was like prior to this jacket.  The wash.  The cut.  The fit.  The buttons.  If you can't tell, I just love everything about this jacket.  If you're searching for a denim jacket, this is your answer!  And, if you're not searching for a denim jacket, you have no need to, because you are going to purchase this one!  It's by Kut from the Kloth and can be found in several washes online.  I promise you won't have a single regret.  I could wear this thing every single day and not be sorry.  Over dresses.  With a cute tank and shorts.  With the aforementioned camo wool scarf.  With colored skinny jeans.  Basically, I cannot think of a scenario in which I wouldn't desire to wear this jacket.

While the pictures on Nordstrom's site make the jacket look hideous {trust me, I know}, I can assure you the in-person gorgeousness of this thing is beyond comparison.  I just can't put it into words.  Just go buy it.  NOW.

Priorities.  Back to J. Crew.  Here are a few other items I've snagged up recently that I anticipate will make repeat appearances in my fall wardrobe this year.

Another item I picked up while on vacation are some amazing mustard-colored skinnies from Loft Factory.  I couldn't find an exact picture online, but these are very similar.  I've already worn these things several times, and can't wait to pair them with sweaters and boots this fall!

Aside from J. Crew, I adore shopping at boutiques.  I've snagged a few things the past few months from a few local boutiques that I can't wait to wear ALL of the time this fall!

After having lunch with a friend recently, we perused the Dillard's sale and I scored these gorgeous calf-hair pumps for twenty-four bucks!  I'm envisioning them with the above pink J. Crew sweater and a yellow pencil skirt, also from {you guessed it} J. Crew.  I wore them to church Sunday with a black dress and my coveted denim jacket.  Of course I was dying of a heat stroke, but I just couldn't wait to wear them with THE denim jacket!

Probably the item I'm most excited to dig out of my prior season's collections are these Melissa boots by FRYE.  They are, undoubtedly, the most amazing boots ever.  Comfortable, handmade, genuine leather.  I've known people to have a pair of these for 7+ years.  They look more amazing by the year because of the graceful way in which the leather ages.  I'm thoroughly obsessed with mine.

What are you loving and lusting over this fall?!  I've got several weddings, the Razorback game for my birthday, a fundraiser or two, and some other fun fall events and I'm so excited to mix and match some of my most favorite staples to create fun outfits to wear for them.

Have a blessed day, friends!  Make someone smile today.
